Tell me: who doesn’t love a good list? Detailed lists, top favourite lists, to-do lists. It’s organization in the simplest form. Whether they’re bullet points, or separated by commas, I love a good list. I definitely think I should write some lists, commencing now.
It is my pleasure to introduce to you the top five movies that have made me cry!
I don’t cry much. When I do it’s usually mixed in with sleep loss, and more often than not I will start hysterically laughing. I know some people who are pretty weak when it comes to watching a movie, and I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I think it’s good that people can cry easily, it’s just not me.
DISCLAIMER: This list is full of spoilers, so beware.
5. Bride Wars
This movie only made the list for the story that accompanies it. I went to see it with one other friend. The end was really emotional, in a totally girly and happy kind of way, and we both were tearing up a little. It wasn’t until months later where we actually told each other that we almost cried.
When Radio’s mom dies and he’s upset and in the house just broke me, and I know it did for a lot of other people, too. You just start thinking about how you would react if you were in that situation and it’s too much to handle.
3. Christmas Shoes
This is not a happy Christmas movie! This is the saddest thing that I’ve ever had to witness over Christmas break! Luckily for me, I was expecting it from a warning from a friend, but still! The kid buys the shoes and his mom dies. I never want to watch this movie again, it’s too damn sad! Especially for Christmas. I am a happy go lucky Christmas person, and this was not a nice Christmas evening I spent by the fire. It was a dark, sad, sobbing, curled up on my couch winter night.
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (both parts)
I’m pretty sure I’ve recounted both tales of crying. In part one I cried when Harry was visiting his parents’ grave on Christmas eve with Hermione, and in part two it was when Sirius Black came back with the resurrection stone. Again, the hardest I’ve ever cried during a movie was during part two.
Before I carry on with my list, let me tell you about the sexy cry. The sexy cry is often in movies. It’s the kind of crying where only one tear is shed. It’s created by pure sadness and sits in your eye, blurring your vision, until you blink. The lone tear travels down your face until it reaches your chin and you casually brush it away. (Looking for an example? Watch Lord of the Rings. Arwen demonstrates a great sexy cry.) That’s the kind of crying I did in Deathly Hallows part one, and number one on this list.
1. Toy Story 3
You don’t expect to cry during a nice children’s film, but let’s face it, it’s Pixar. Pixar likes to toy with our emotions like that. Everyone who grew up with Toy Story, aged 15 and up, cried at the end of Toy Story 3.
That’s all for today, folks. Hope you enjoyed, and I hope you don’t think I’m a nutcase for crying during Bride Wars.
(The sexy cry derived from tgwtg.)
