Category: 30 Day Movie Challenge

The rest of the 30 movie day challenge.

The challenge has been sitting there just bugging the crap out of me, I just had to finish it and all in one post. Doing them in parts might kill me, they are bulky posts and they get in the way. So since I don’t like when things go unfinished I am finishing the 30 day movie challenge in one final mega post.

Day 21: Favourite action movie

I expect most of the world has seen this movie, and a good portion of those people liked it. There’s not much to explain my answer other than The Dark Knight is my favourite action movie.

Day 22: Favourite documentary

I can count the number of documentaries I’ve seen on one hand:

  • March of the Penguins
  • The King of Kong: A Fistfull of Quarters
  • and some documentary about NASCAR

I didn’t really like any of them. The movie shown in that poster above is The A Word, directed by Lindsay Ellis, a documentary that I really want to see. That’s as far as I’ve gotten with liking a documentary, but I think I’d like Lindsay’s. It sounds so personal and really interesting.

Day 23: Favourite animation

Toy Story is my childhood. I would watch it every day. I played with my Woody and Buzz like there was no tomorrow. I still watch Toy Story to this day and can appreciate it just as much as I did back then. Especially the hidden jokes that only “adults” would notice and understand.

Day 24: That one awesome movie idea that still hasn’t been done yet

A live action Batman movie with Harley Quinn. Harley is my favourite Batman character, and I would love to see her in one of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies. The above is just a graphic I made, casting Brittany Murphy as Harley Quinn to Heath Ledger’s Joker. Seeing the two together makes me sad because she would have played an excellent Harley to Heath’s Joker.

Day 25: The most hilarious movie you’ve ever seen

I was at a bit of a loss with this one, I sort of found out I’m not really a fan of comedies. Romantic comedies, yes, straight up comedy, no. Since I’ve seen Bridesmaids recently I just picked it, because I laughed pretty damn hard a good number of times. The only other movie I can think of where I laughed really hard was The Incredibles, which I haven’t seen since it came out. Despicable Me was pretty hilarious, too, so it gets an honourable mention.

Day 26: A movie that you love but everyone else hates

It’s not that everyone necessarily hates Cars, it’s just usually their least favourite Pixar movie. Or they simply don’t like it. But I personally love Cars. It’s funny and light-hearted! Plus Lightning McQueen has amazing character development that can challenge Woody and Buzz.

Day 27: A movie you wish you had seen in theatres

I wasn’t alive when Superman came out, which is why I wish I could see it in theatres. Simple as that.

Day 28: Favourite movie from your favourite director

I believe Sweeney Todd is the onnly movie I’ve used for an answer more than once. Tim Burton is my favourite director, and has been since my youth. Sweeney Todd being one of my favourite films is probably my favourite Tim Burton film as well.

Day 29: A movie from your childhood

Anstasia is a beautiful film, that’s all I really have to say other than, yes, I did watch it a lot as a kid.

Day 30: Your favourite movie of all time

The following will be answered by the movie posters only. (I couldn’t choose between the two.)

Day 19 + 20.

Day 19: Favourite movie based on a book/comic/etc.

I read Chocolat a month or so before I decided to watch the movie. Now I wasn’t happy with how the book ended, but the book was phenomenal anyways. I wasn’t looking forward to the movie a great deal because of the ending, but I knew the beginning and middle, at least, should be good. But they changed the ending in the movie! And I was so relieved that they did that! I enjoyed the movie so much more because of that. That’s why Chocolat is my favourite movie based off of anything written; it lived up to the book, and in my mind, the ending surpassed that of the book.

Day 20: Favourite movie from your favorite actor/actress

Johnny Depp is my all-time favourite actor, and I chose it suitable to choose Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl as my favourite Johnny Depp film, seeing as it’s his first film I had seen where I recognized Johnny Depp as an actor. Before this one, I had seen Edward Scissorhands, but that’s it. Since then I’ve seen a lot more of his movies, but I still pick Pirates as my favourite.
